The Pond
At 164 acres, Coonamessett Pond is the largest pond in the area and one of the cleanest watersheds for Falmouth. It is a natural kettelhole pond with a maximum depth of 34 feet and an average depth of 19 feet and is located in the Hatchville section of Falmouth. Public access to Coonamessett Pond for boating is provided by the town of Falmouth through the Souza Conservation Area on the southwestern end of the pond. It is located off Hatchville Road which runs between Sam Turner Road and Sandwich Road. The pond is perfect for kayaking, however boats with motors are limited to 5 horsepower. There is a small swimming beach at the north end of the pond with access off Boxberry Hill Rd.

The Association offers assistance on matters of concern to the community in regard to the watershed area of Coonamessett Pond. In concert with The 300 Committee (http://www.300committee.org) and the Town of Falmouth, the Association assists with the stewardship of the conservation parcels in the area. We seek to encourage careful thought in the present, so that these characteristics of the area will continue into the future.
We encourage neighbors and concerned citizens to join us in our endeavors to protect and preserve this treasure! Become more involved in our local environment by enjoying nature and bird walks on the conservation lands, or fishing and observing the seasonal herring runs. These activities will help you learn about what is in your “backyard.”
